Client: Callooh Callay
Brief:
The inspiration for my entry has been drawn from computer games and utilizes their futuristic, logical and modern style. The design conveys information to the customer by combining video games with pie charts and infographs, whilst still serving the primary function of aesthetic appeal. As a hybrid of function and design, my entry is innovative, inventive and original. The simplicity of the design communicates a clear image to the customer of the drinks they’re ordering, right down to the accompanying garnish. This project embraces the idiom ‘less is more’. The customer is best able to read information from a menu which is unencumbered by unnecessary detail.
This design has been created using thirty of the most popular cocktails to demonstrate its flexibility. However, I realise that like this menu, your cocktails are bespoke. Therefore, if my project were to be selected, I would work with your recipes to alter my design to reflect their unique construction.
This project has been fashioned to form an upright book with the front cover reflected on the back. The image on the back cover has been changed so that the drink shown on the front appears to have been consumed. This effect is taken further by the text which is the same as that on the front but manipulated so it is as it would appear in a mirror. This makes the menu seem to be transparent when closed.
